So, I have thought about blogging, vlogging etc for a while but know I cannot be consistent but I thought I would start here.
Here’s a thought. Is church a business? This is such a tough one for me. As an accountant, a salesman, and somebody who naturally wants to improve things I tend to want to bring business solutions to church problems. This isn’t wrong, because too often the church can be so heavenly-minded that they are of no earthly use. But, I need to remember that while the church needs money to exist it does not exist for money. While we should be efficient so that we ‘steward’ God’s resources well, efficiency isn’t the goal.
The church exists to be effective: effective in reaching the lost; effective in discipling its attendees; effective in helping them live like Jesus.
The two things are not mutually exclusive. Good business practices do help make a church be more effective, remove the things that are not reaching the goals. Good strategy and can come from God – hey He is a pretty good strategist if you ask me.
So, it is not either or, but both/and!!
